Witches
Rock (Playa Naranjo)
Another
spot shown on the Endless Summer II, Witches Rock is one of Costa Rica’s
best waves. This beach break has many points along 2-3 miles of mostly
deserted shoreline. The best break, however is right in front of the rock.
Here a small estuary meets the ocean and makes a sand bar that builds very
hollow lefts and rights. From December until April, offshore winds can be
fierce here. Witches rock is not accessible by car all year long, and
surfers must enter in Santa Rosa National park. If you decide to camp,
which is definitely an experience, bring mosquito nets.
